The News You Don’t Hear…..
Currently, the global warming community is assembling in Montreal to sing hosannahs to the Kyoto Protocol — but they’ve kept their normal boisterous PR machine pretty quiet of late. One wonders why.
Could it be that the much-vaunted scientific ‘consensus’ is cracking in the face of data? Well, that ‘consensus’ was always an artificial production of a political arm of the environmental movement — witness the International Panel on Climate Change report of 2001 that was redrafted by the UN after the scientific community found no compelling evidence to support Global Warming Theory. Pre and Post Edit versions show the stark reality of the politics of Climate Change.
Now, the Scientific establishment is fighting back In the latest issue of Nature , British researchers reported that the ocean current responsible for the tropical winds that warm Europe’s climate has decreased by an estimated 30 percent since 1957. The New Scientist reports on the study nicely captured its import, “Failing ocean current raises fear of mini ice age.â€
Recently, a rather liberal organization even acknowledged the lack of compelling evidence in its own publications; the European Science and Environment Forum ’s recently released The Global Warming Debate: The Report of the European Science and Environment Forum, 73 McCarthy Court, Banbury Street, London, SW11 3ET. has put it in the starkest possible terms– “The hard scientific evidence shows that the alleged c.0.5C change in average global temperatures over the last 100 years (based mainly on Northern hemisphere ground-based measuring stations) being used by GWT’s proponents to justify drastic action now can be observed due to random variations over timescales as short as two weeks. To ascribe temperature changes of this magnitude over the course of a century to GWT is therefore highly inadvisable.”
The Journal of Applied and Terrestrial Physics? It has demonstrated that some 75% to 85% of global temperature variation between the last decades of the 16th century and the present day can be accounted for through variations in the length of sunspot cycles: the longer the timespan between periods of high sunspot activity, the lower the average global temperatures, and vice versa.
Don’t bother turning on your TV to hear about it. Never mind that several of its most formerly vocal advocates in the political realm are quietly abandoning it (see Tony Blair’s June 7th statements regarding GWT)– but celebrate the hopefully fatal illness of the Cult of Global Warming. Thankfully, the truth has always had a way of killing off such messages of Statist control and regulation based on inaccurate information.
As for Kyoto, lets pray it remain a nice city in Japan, rather than a justification for Government intervention in the free market.
